Wedding Recollections

Mike and Lyn's Recollections of the wedding

(Mike writing in blue and Lyn writing in black)

The day for me started the night before, because, in my excitement, I probably got about forty minutes sleep! My family rose and we started getting ready – Mum very kindly offering to iron all of the shirts and waistcoats for the groomsmen and Tom, Dad and I heading off to have a wet shave in Sudbury. It was a very interesting, relaxing experience which gave me ample opportunity to chat with Tom and Dad, but I’ll admit to starting to panic about the time, as my shave took nearly an hour to finish. Not to worry though, because we got home with time to spare and got changed into our wedding suits quickly enough. It was then that big shock of the morning happened – the groom went to pieces! Thankfully, not me, but the marzipan me who sat on top of our wedding cake (no legs, heads or head – representing, I suspect, that soon I’d no longer be able to think or do things for myself and definitely couldn’t run away)! With no time at all to repair it, my parents got out the superglue and repaired the little chap.

Tom and I were dropped off at the castle at about 1pm and met up with the groomsmen who hadn’t got their suits yet (Paul, Pete, Joe and Dave), whereupon they sped off to get changed. Tom and I headed down to the pub for a beer (my last as a free man!) and some cashews. We headed back to the castle, met up with the ushers and MC and started the meet and greet.

Before I knew what was happening, I was called up to the castle and was standing in the keep, waiting to be married. Waiting is definitely the right word. Although Lyn assures me that she definitely didn’t mean to be fifteen minutes late to the altar, it was a very, very long wait! Just before Lyn finally arrived, my stalwart brother and best man suggested that perhaps Lyn wasn’t going to turn up today. Cheers for that!

Eventually Lyn turned up, looking absolutely stunning in her wedding dress. I can’t tell you how beautiful she was as she walked up the aisle (most of you were there so you know!). We even had a few laughs during the ceremony – when the adjutant got Tom and I mixed up and when I couldn’t get the ring over Lyn’s knuckle properly! I was concentrating so hard on not mispronouncing any of the vows that I barely noticed that they were over and it was time for the new Mr and Mrs Chapman to leave and get their photographs taken!

I think I got a few hours sleep the night before, thus ruining all my careful preparations to have a lovely clear complexion and no bags under my eyes :S At 6 am, I got to work on the list of things to do that Rachel had got me to make the night before to calm me down. Avril and Jodie arrived as I was making the CD for the dinner music (I’m nothing if not last minute) – Avril had brought a flashing Bride to be sash (lovely) and her beautiful veil. I entrusted Jodie with the rings, and we set off to the castle.

The bouquets of sunflowers and gerberas were already there – they were really bright and cheerful. Mum did my hair, we had lunch and I had my make-up done.  Jodie sellotaped a silver sixpence in my shoe. I started to panic about everything! My hands were shaking so much I couldn’t tie the rings on the pillow and I had to ask Avril to do it. I couldn’t even get my shoes on so Jodie put them on for me! I was panicking about my mascara, my jewellery, my dress...  Jodie calmed me down thankfully with talking about books. Mum managed to get my dress on me and pop the veil and sparkly thing in my hair before we went downstairs to meet up with Dad and Sam for some more photos before we walked over to the castle. I didn’t know I was late – everyone had assured me we had loads of time and wedding dresses generally don’t come with watches – that’s my excuse anyhow…

I still hadn’t got the hang of picking up my dress so I’m sure I looked very inelegant! At the entrance to the keep, I heard the piano playing the song we had chosen – ‘You are the Sunshine of my Life’ – and then I think I sprinted up the aisle. I was so happy to see Mike – he looked so handsome standing there waiting for me. I could only see him.

The ceremony was really lovely. There was a quick intro, then the registrar invited Peter to do our first reading – Birthday by Christina Rosetti, which he read beautifully. Then the registrar said the wedding vows that we’d chosen, for us to repeat. I’ll need to remember to get a copy of them to remember what I promised I’d do! I know I said I’d be faithful and love and protect Mike forever - and I will. I tried my best not to stumble over the words! Though Mike’s two middle names were concerning me – I think I got them the right way round…

There were so many moments of laughter in our ceremony – that’s what I’ll remember most of all from the day - how much fun we had. I think Mike did a silent ‘yes’ fist clench once we were pronounced man and wife! After the ceremony, my brother read Coleridge’s ‘Fragment from a Notebook,’ which he did wonderfully – not even stumbling over ‘soliloquy.’ We had Debussy playing during the signing of the registrar – Claire de lune and Arabesque – which was just lovely. I’ll have to learn them when I get home. My dad and Tom signed the registrar as our witnesses. We had to sign the proper registrar then pose with a pen while people took our pictures. I think I was pulling a bit of a strange face though cos some of the photos of me look a bit wonky at this point! We stood up to go and as, strangely, the registrar never said ‘you can now kiss the bride’ so we did it anyway before we left! We walked out to ‘Fly me to the Moon’ which I thought was just great. Marrying Mike was the best moment of the whole day for me – and the best moment of my life so far – I was so happy, and still am. I hope to make him happy for all of our days together.

Outside we had some photos with our families. Avril tried to get Finley to give me a really lovely horseshoe but he wasn’t keen on having his picture taken! We also had a magic photo on the bridge with confetti and such – all the rose petals were on the train of my gown which everyone took pics of.

After the photos were finished, we went over to the castle for our drinks reception, which was absolutely lovely. I don’t think we could’ve asked for better weather. We circulated around everyone, drinking Bucks Fizz and Pimms (which seemed to cause a degree of confusion amongst some of the Shetland contingent!), whilst people began to play with the giant garden games. Unfortunately we didn’t get too long to spend with everyone because we were whisked off for more photos in the beautiful grounds of the castle (and a duckling tried to eat Lyn’s bouquet whenever she set it down!).

Lauren came to find us to line us all up for the receiving line. It gave us a chance to see absolutely everyone. We headed into the marquee where Dave announced our entry – the new Mr and Mrs Chapman! And we got a round of applause too – I was very embarrassed. The marquee was set up beautifully with our favours (planes and bubbles and sunflower seeds) and decorations – the sunflowers and gerberas made it look so bright and cheerful.

The dinner that we had was gorgeous – really well cooked and handed out really quickly. The poor waitresses had to contend with planes whizzing around everywhere and people not throwing planes blowing bubbles! Planes were landing in food and in a waitresses’ eye, but everyone seemed to have a really nice time (although I was very nervous because I knew that my speech was coming up very soon!) Tom, being the trooper that he is, started turning down wine because he wanted to do a good speech (which he did).

After the food, David announced our speeches. My dad was first – his speech was really excellent – he said some lovely things about me and Mike as well. It was funny and lovely. Next up was Mike – his speech was excellent and made everyone laugh a lot – he was so confident and just brilliant – and really lovely about me – though he did make me out to be a bit of an alcoholic on the night we met! After that came Tom’s speech which he’d been so nervous about. He did really well, basing it around Mike’s love of films with many jokes. Finally, I toasted the bridesmaids and said a few words about our parents and family and then tried to say what I’d spent all year thinking about Mike – some of it, I hope, came across. I was so nervous I sat down straight away.

Later on, we cut the cake – It had sunflowers down the side and a castle on top and everything. It was three tiers of lemon and chocolate cake. I’m pretty sure Paul shouted out about how it should’ve been a Zombie cake… ours was lovely though – even had a mini me and Mike, although Mike was legless by the time we cut it! How amusing. He still had one leg left though. We weren’t quite sure how to cut it so we had a good old chop and then did it again! Thankfully my sister had told me earlier that we needed to have Mike’s hands over mine for luck so we did that properly at least. J

The first dance was very amusing. The band launched into a lovely rendition of Beyond the Sea and Lyn and I took to the dance floor. Although I tried to slip in a few swing dance moves here and there, I kept standing on Lyn’s train so I toned it down some. Whilst we were having a bit of a smooth of the dance floor, we got heckled by our friends, shouting “Get a room!” at us. Before too long we were joined by Tom and Avril (Tom shouting at Avril – “Let me lead! Let me lead!” and the rest of our families. I think everyone was entertained by the next song too – Crazy Little thing called love –pretty fast tempo stuff!

Sam came over during the evening and gave Mike and me his love heart sweets – very sweet of him! The Casino tables were set up so everyone headed over that way – and the marquee was open so we could walk out into the garden and everyone could play the garden games that had been brought across. I got beat by Sam at Connect Four J It was such a lovely evening. I spent it trying to circulate and see most people – I think I spoke to loads of people but not everyone. I remember talking to my aunts and uncles (even got a photo) and they thanked me for mentioning Don and Marion and Gran and Granda in my speech. I phoned Granny and Granda on the night and it was lovely to talk to them. At the end of the evening, I even remembered to have a photo with just me and Av and Marvyn – everyone seemed to want a photo of us all dressed up. I didn’t throw my bouquet though – was frightened it would do someone an injury it was so heavy!

With the news that our taxi had arrived, Lyn and I went to the dance floor to say goodbye to our friends and family to the tune of “New York, New York” and we were encouraged to dance in the middle of a big ring of people, who repeatedly kicked me in the arse, much to their amusement! Tom had got everyone on the dance floor. I said our final goodbyes to the crowd and we headed off to the taxi, where the ever-thoughtful Lyn had instructed the wedding staff to fill up the car with cards and wedding presents. A perfect end to a perfect day!

Pre-wedding shoot

If I was Mike, I'm sure I'd come up with a witty pun about guns and photo shoots or something... but I'm not as clever as him so I'll just write about our photos instead.

We met up with our lovely photographer, Olga, for a pre-wedding shoot last weekend. The idea is to get used to having your photo taken together before the big event, and also to get to know our photographer a little bit before hand.

I spent the whole day before fretting about what dress to wear, bought three and then took them all back and wore one I had anyway. Typical. I was also worried about the predicted thunderstorms - I'm brilliant at picking the wrong day for things!

We were headed off to Dedham, where Constable painted loads of his pictures, like this one:

We chose that spot because Mike and I spent many hours strolling by the river there and talking about anything and everything when we first started going out. It really is beautiful, and Constable's cottage is at the end of a lovely walk along the river.

Mike wasn't so keen about having his picture taken as he claims that he's only ever had one good photo taken of him and that was in 1990! I disagree. Olga put him at his ease though and we had a lovely time.

I was wearing totally inappropriate footwear for a country walk (I really have morphed into an Essex girl) so had fun trying to perch on trees roots by the river and stuff. Mike was temporarily scared by a huge dog that was keen on jumping in the water from a great height and swimming about, then shaking dry right next to where Mike was posing.... I was kind of waiting for an action shot of the dog/water/Mike splashing sort, but thankfully it was all ok. And we got a swan in the background of one of the shots, so that's nice.

Finally, we might have a few nice pictures of us together! I think we only have one nice one of the two of us.
Then we strolled into the village, had ridiculously expensive tea and scones and watched as the thunderstorms broke 5 mins after the end of our shoot. Then went to see Harry Potter. A lovely day :)

PS I'm not at all nervous that it's less than 3 weeks to go now.....

Stag do

Good grief, has it really been a month since the last time Lyn or I wrote a post? Between Lyn's Ofsted and my attempts to get my department ready for the new GCSE, time has just flown by!

I can't believe that we're at the t-minus 26 days stage! :)

So a little while ago, I went on my stag do down to London to meet up with Tom (brother and best man) and my friends and family who kindly came to watch me get very drunk. But that was later on.

Tom had arranged for us to go go-karting. Now I know that anyone who's ever been in a car with me will testify that I have a small obsession with sticking to the speed limit, so the idea of me throwing a petrol-powered shopping trolley around a track with my arse two inches above the ground may seem a little incongruous.

I had a brilliant time! Although the experience has once again confirmed my inability to go round corners with any sort of speed, I was fine on the "go-fast-along-straight-bits" skill, as well as the "swerve-dangerously-in-front-of-people" ability. Amusingly, although we got given a ridiculous number of safety warning before we were allowed to go on the track, once we were on there all of the marshals were too busy playing on their phones to notice any underhand shenanigans.

Special mentions have to go to my friend Pete (who kept his cool despite running out of petrol half-way through), Tom's mate Toff (who was unbelievably fast) and my Uncle Pete (who drove the entire 45 minutes session without a team mate to relieve him or a single pit-stop to stretch his legs).

After we'd had some grub, we found a nice pub where my friends and family kindly bought me lots of drinks (shockingly sometimes these drinks were mixed in to other drinks! :)) I do remember (vaguely) being bought a shot of something floating in a glass of something else. I'm assuming that it was some vitamins/fruit juice combo.

Later on that evening, the stoical Tom escorted a drunken Mike safely across London town (during which a kebab was enjoyed), whereupon Mike snored his head off for the short remainder of the night.

I nearly, very nearly, had a hangover. Instead I was left with a vague taste of chilli sauce and a lot of gratitude to all the people who came out for my stag:

Dad
Uncle Pete
Vince
Stephen
Tom
Jamie
Paul
Pete
Dave
Dan
James
Rob
Jon
Alan
Toff

Thanks very much for coming guys and thanks very much to Tom for organising it. See you all on the big day!

FOOD glorious FOOD

Well we just had our final wedding planning meeting with a lovely lady from Hedingham who seems to have everything that I've been stress heading about under control. Which is excellent cos I don't think I've got a brain big enough to hold all the disparate threads of everything we've booked, never mind process what needs to be done! Everything seems wonderfully in hand, which is good. As my sister says, it's not that hard organising a wedding, you just book stuff and they turn up.... unless you're a complete control freak like me!

An added bonus to our visit was that we got to try our wedding menu, which is being cooked by a lovely lady called Liz (from her company karat catering). When we arrived, we were shown into the Georgian manor house - in the picture here. This is where we'll be having our post ceremony drinks on the big day. It's a really lovely house, with beautiful gardens overlooking the lake at the back. I'm just hoping for a sunny day!

Anyway, we went in and were given our 'thrones' in the dining room round a mahusive table. Much like the ones you see in Jane Austen dramas (though I don't any more as Mike won't watch any more Austen with me. Our house is an Austen free zone) with proper posh antique furniture and scary looking portraits of long dead ancestors with big noses, hands in waistcoats, big beards and hunting dogs. Well, that was just the ladies :D (got to add one bad joke to keep up with Mike). I don't think I'll ever have another experience like it - our own personal chef cooking us our meal at a table you could fling salt cellars down.

I am tempted to pretend at this juncture that I've made it an all vegetarian menu. A selection of just salad leaves and fish would particularly annoy Mike's best man, Tom, and we did pretend for a while that he would have no big juicy plate of meat to eat but I couldn't keep it up. So he and my step dad Magnus will be happy to hear that there is a hearty meat option....

So out came our first courses - I had a salad of asparagus, jersey royals, radishes and mixed bay leaves, while Mike had the hot smoked salmon pate with lemon and parsley potato salad. They were both absolutely delicious and very impressive. Though a tad intimidating to eat surrounded with all those scary portraits looking down at us...

After devouring both, we were brought through our three (yes three!) mains to try between us. Mike said it may well have been the happiest day of his life.... he had a braised lamb shank with chick peas, tomatoes, smoked paprika, coriander and minted yogurt, which was, quite frankly, the biggest leg of lamb I have ever seen. My normal practice when someone is eating lamb is to spend the meal making bleating noises and talking about cute fluffy little baby lambs skipping joyfully across meadows, but I managed to restrain myself somehow. Anyway, Mike loved it. I think he was determined to eat it on our wedding day, until he tasted the Roasted Salmon fillet, which although standard wedding food fare, was the most delicious salmon fillet I've ever tried. Poor fishies. I think a lot of them will die so that our wedding guests may taste their delicious flesh. Have I converted anyone yet? Anyway, I was delightfully happy with my vegetarian selection, which was really really tasty. I had avoided anything with mushrooms, cheese or anything with 'spinach and ricotta' in the title, on the grounds that that's always what vegetarians get, and I was so glad that the vegetarian selection that Liz cooked was really good. I chose buckwheat pancakes stuffed with roasted sweet potato, red pepper, pesto and red onion with spicy tomato sauce. They were gorgeous.

We did actually eat all that. Foolishly, I was not thinking ahead to how I would fit in that wedding dress in my cupboard, or the beach pictures from my honeymoon. Nor was I thinking about the desserts.... vanilla cheesecake with strawberries and a chocolate torte with coffee cream. Despite the fact that I am a complete chocoholic, I didn't actually think the chocolate torte went with the menu - far too rich! So I've changed it to a lemon and lime tart, which I thought would go much better. I couldn't finish the desserts - how depressing!
All that followed by coffee too.

I hope I've whetted your appetite. The food was fantastic. Far too delicious for dieting through!! Aw well, I'm back on the beansprouts and lettuce leaves now :(

I hope everyone at the wedding enjoys the food as much as we did :)

Suits for my sweet

With work finally slackening off a little bit, I've finally had a chance to sort out the suits for the grooms men. I will admit that the whole process of picking suits has been a little difficult, mainly because I'm total crap on decisions that are based entirely on aesthetics. Give me two car companies quoting for duties on the day and I can rationalise the right decision in a heart beat. Ask me whether or not the bridal party should have thin stripes on their trousers or not and I'm sunk.

Unfortunately Lyn thought that giving me help with this was cheating.

Nuts.

In the end, I've gone with tradition and stuck with morning suits. Despite the 3pm start time for our wedding. Apparently that's bad form and convention dictates that I should, really, wear a lounge suit. Convention can go hang for all I care; I'm not wearing a lounge suit.

Of course, the suit for the inestimable Mr Rhys-James is fairly obvious. He's very kindly agreed to be the Master of Ceremonies, which means that I need to get him one of these:

It's a bit of a cheat, I know, but...one down....all the rest to do.

In the end, after all of my researching through magazines and the internet totally failed to make the decision for me, I eventually decided on a suit called the Carisbrooke for the bridal party. Its definitely the right decision. Unless its not.

Seems fine. The waistcoats and cravats at the hire shop were a bit naff, so now I need to source those from somewhere else. I've already identified several possible vendors. Now all I need to do is decide on the colour and style.

Sigh.

Health and happiness to all

Amazing cakes

I've spent a long time researching wedding cakes. I'm quite sure Mike isn't really bothered about cake as he doesn't have much of a sweet tooth, but I really really love cake. Particularly beautiful crafted novelty ones. I think it might stem from when I was little and my mum (and my sister Avril) used to make me phenomenal birthday cakes in the shapes of my favourite things- a goldfish bowl, a teddy bear, a witches cauldron with black icing (for my superb Halloween themed birthday - my 11th I think). I remember Avril making and decorating her 13th birthday cake with a beautiful picture. I was usually allowed to stir and sift things, being far too small for any real assistance! I guess that's why I've become so obsessed with the idea of a beautiful wedding cake.
Of course lovely Deb at work makes the most amazing cakes, so she was naturally my first choice for making ours. Sadly, she will be on holiday at the time, so that option was out. She gave me some names of friends who might help, but they were all unavailable too! So eventually we found the lovely Andrea Barker, had a meeting at her house and she's agreed to make it. I just had to decide on a cake....

My first choice was the fantastic James Bond Wedding Cake:

Now even though Roger (my future father in law (who's a very nice man) ) totally agreed with me on this cake, Mike really wasn't having it at all. Not traditional enough apparantly. So in order to avoid a situation like this:

I thought I better search again. I thought, maybe it is the violence that upset him? Maybe I needed something more traditional? And what could be more traditional than a fairy tale castle? Aw, innit beautiful?

Perhaps this was romantic enough? But no. Too girlie, too pastel, too shiny... Back to the drawing board. I decided to take inspiration from one of our shared interests: Zombies. I wasn't going to go so far as to leap onto the recent American bandwagon of having a zombie themed wedding, but I thought he might just go for this utterly phenomenal cake:

Is that not the most brilliant cake you've seen? Despite it clearly being the best wedding cake on the whole of the internet ever, Mike wasn't having it. I think he just wasn't keen on seeing me with a chainsaw in my hands. And, to be honest, I was a little shy of showing the picture to the lovely lady who was actually going to make it!
So I gave up on my interests, and decided to just stick to what Mike likes. So some MORE searching uncovered this beautiful specimen...

See - it is gorgeous, it's not violent, it's not girlie, it's not pink, and it even encapsulates the things Mike likes (steam-punk, pocket watches). What could be wrong this time? Too shiny apparently. Ah well. Time to give up and turn to the demon drink.....

I'm too mean. We did on the end agree on a lovely cake design and Mike has really let me choose (within limits!). I'll not post a pic as it'd be nice for people just to see it on the day. Mike is a lovely lovely fiancĂ©e really, who has put up with my endless wittering on about cakes and flowers and shoes for a very very long time. Bless him :)

Rings

So Lyn and I have finally decided on the design of our wedding rings after a very pleasant trip to Hatton Gardens in London. Interesting range of shops, with an interesting range of sales people. Who, very often, spoke total nonsense about the benefits of their rings.

Like the shop that offered us a price for the rings, then offered to take over £1000 off the price, because 'we seemed nice'.

LIke the shop that told us that their 18ct gold was, gram-for-gram, heavier and stronger than 18ct gold from other shops.

Like the shop that went to considerable lengths to convince us that a German-machined ring was significantly superior to rings machined in Hong Kong (as if we were discussed precision-made components for a jet fighter or something!)

Very quickly, Lyn and I came to opinion that if it fulfilled these criteria, then it was fine:

1) It should be ring shaped
2) It should be metal
3) It shouldn't cost the same as a deposit on a house

In then end, we picked a two-tone ring in white gold and rose gold, which we both really liked.

The precise design will be revealed on the big day!

Anyway, that's enough babble from me. Hope everyone's staying hale, healthy and hearty!

Bridesmaids' dresses

It's been ages since we've updated - very lax. I guess we've both just been really really busy. So I've sorted the bridesmaid's dresses which is good - I seem to have squeaked in at the last minute in terms of ordering in time! Well, for the dress I've ordered anyway. I had a lovely time trawling round Colchester with one of my bridesmaids, Jo, and found loads of dresses, some of which were frightening prom looking things, and some of which were really really lovely. In some shops, it was like entering a whole other bizarrely coloured world of sparkly weird dresses for 16 year old girls waiting to go to the prom.... very scary! Still, there were some really nice shops and I got a really good idea of what suits and what kind of thing to go for.

So I returned to the lovely 'Abigail's Collection,' because the people there have been so helpful. They recommended a really nice, elegant dress for my bridesmaids which I just loved, so I ordered it. It was in just the right colour too. I won't describe it too much cos I don't want to give away all my secrets! Sadly, I couldn't choose the dresses with my bridesmaids because Rachel and Avril are both in Scotland, and the shop had so few available appointments - Jo couldn't make the only time they had. I hope it all works out all-right. I'm sure they will all look stunning.

Now on to buy accessories! I have to decide to tiara or not to tiara. Can I resist the small girl inside me's desire to look like a Barbie doll princess? Hmmm...

Seriously, having bought four pairs of shoes for my wedding dress already, none of which are quite right, I'm looking forward to going on a shoe hunt with Rachel and Avril, both of whom I hope to meet up with in April. My mum recommended Dr Martins would be more 'me' and I tend to agree.... bright pink ones I think!

We'll post sooner next time!

Casino

So...I've finally managed to convince Lyn to let me have casino tables at the wedding. Jacqui and Andy had them at their wedding and, although I was delirious with the flu at the time, they were great fun.

The big question is: which two tables should I get? My choices are stud poker, roulette, blackjack, chuck-a-luck, craps and Texas Hold'em (my favourite). I'm reliably informed that poker isn't a great idea as the turnover is really low, meaning that not everyone gets a go. Apparently chuck-a-luck and roulette are pretty much the same experience.. Craps sound interesting, but the rules are complicated (doesn't usually equate with fun).

Chuck-a-luck

That leaves me with roulette and blackjack (big fan :)). Or chuck-a-luck (for the novelty value). Or Texas Hold'em (my favourite). Or craps (dice games would be something new). Or stud poker (old classic).

Nuts. Back to square one.

Wedding Dress Shopping

So lots has happened since the last time we posted, which was far too long ago! I have mostly ben obsessing about dresses, and am now starting to get a bit panicy about how soon I need to order it. Apparantly some of them need 8 months to arrive, which is scary because it means I need to choose basically now, instead of just dreamily looking through magazines.

So I visited about 5 different shops, mostly in Colchester, which seems to be the home of Wedding Dress shops. It's quite nice them all being in the same place. I've tried on what feels like a million dresses, with Mike's mum very patiently waiting to give me advice about what looks best! Though I have discovered that anything too big looks ridiculous, and that corsets are my friends. And that there are some fantastically pink, sparkly and fluffy dresses out there. Nancy's been brilliant at helping me pick out dresses that will suit. Some of the shops I've been in are just lovely - wine and chocolates, my own private consultant and everything, and my own plinth to stand on.... I'd post pics but I need to keep some secrets! Still, I need to order it.

I guess the next step will be choosing accessories to suit the dress. Though there's nothing I like more than shopping for shoes. Except Mike, of course.

I'm looking forward to going shopping with Jo, one of my bridesmaids for those dresses too sometime next month :) It's fun being totally girly for once! Wonder if Mike'll run a mile if I wear Doc Martins going up the aisle?

Lyn :)
